[ he sees that & he stands there, watching you train & waiting ]

[he's moving fast and reckless, his grip on his sword white-knuckled as he jumps and slashes, not even noticing you]

[ he waits for you to get it out of your system just a bit more ]

[nnnot stopping anytime soon]

[ he finally steps in & catches your shinkenmaru in his hands, stopping you ]

[looks startled, his eyes huge before he lets go of the hilt of the sword and stumbles back a little, biting his lower lip hard and looking away]

What is wrong?

Nothing. [flatly, before he turns away and leans against a tree, panting slightly]

[ grabbing your wrist ]

Chiaki.

[yanks it away]

What?

Did I do something wrong?

What?

[stares at you for a second, bewildered]

I--no. You didn't. Just don't worry about it, okay? [turns away from you again and shoves his hands through his hair, his shoulders tense]

. . . you pulled away from me.

I'm not--it's nothing you did. [gripping his hair hard, his pulse still pounding]

. . .

[ he comes up behind you & wraps his arms around you ]

[his whole body goes tense as a drawn wire and he almost shoves you away again before he checks the impulse, letting go of his hair and leaning against you a little, his muscles still taut]

Do you want to go somewhere?

Like where? [sounding exhausted]

Follow me.

[ he takes your hand & starts leading you off ]

Takeru--

[follows, but reluctantly]

[ leading you to a nice, clear area before he pulls his shodouphone out & conjures up a blanket. he sets it down then tugs you down onto it ]

[allows himself to be dragged, but he's still stiff]

Lie down.

[ he tugs you down against him ]

And just look up at the sky.
